At present time, Yahoo! is a service platform that is trying to recovery from different issues and matters, which affected it quite hard in the past and made it weak in comparison to its competitors, after being one of the pioneers and most solid internet companies in the world in the decades of 1990 and 2000, in terms of online services like emails, newsletters and finance.
Between different issues and troubles that affected the company through these recent years, security was one of the most imperative and compromised affairs, when Yahoo! suffered a breach thanks to a hacking procedure, which ended up into an important data released regarding millions of users, in relation to their accounts, passwords and therefore personal information and emails.
Nevertheless, Yahoo! is now renewing its service platform in terms of design, layout, technologies, protocols, tools, resources and other possibilities, in order to adapt such platform to modern days and offer competitive products to online users. Well, in this case security is an imperative matter and responsible people behind such a big brand like Yahoo! know, thanks to immediate past.
Therefore, we will be addressing how to have a secure and trustable password in Yahoo!, ensuring security to all the services involved offered by the company. Also, along with the proper methods to have a secure password, we will be showing you how to change such passcode on Yahoo! if you consider it.
Creating a new Yahoo account with a secure password
If you do not have a Yahoo! account just yet, this is the perfect opportunity to create one and take advantage of all the services and platforms it provides. To do so, open your favorite browser and write https://login.yahoo.com on the URL bar, in this way the Yahoo log in page will be opened; you just have to click on the “Sign Up” button, next to the question: Don´t you have an account?
Like this, the Yahoo´s registration process will start and you must fill in the blanks with the required information, such as: first and last name, email address, password, mobile phone number, date of birth and gender. As you can see, in this procedure the system asks you to enter your password, being the moment to follow great advices to make it as secure as it can be.
To begin with, the system will not allow entering a password with less than 9 characters at least. In fact, that is the only limitation the system has in terms of password entering, but a few advices to follow here are quite important to use a secure and trustable password.
First, never use sequential numbers or letters, such as: “123456789”, “abcdefghi” even if they are used in reversed way; “ihgfedcba” or “987654321. Second, you should never use mobile numbers, Social Security Numbers, IDs or any other personal information as a password, since these are not safe enough and some people may know them, like your father´s name or something like that.
Instead, create a secure password by using a long one that includes capital letters, numbers, and special symbols, and if you are worried about forgetting it you can use words and information related to your hobbies.
In so, if for instance you like to play guitar or a specific band you can use a related word, but always including capital letters, numbers and symbols to avoid hackings or any other security issue. A valid example; THEbeatles/2017, as you can see in this hypothetic password there are many types of characters, being quite long too, so it is enough secure to use it.
You finish the process by clicking on “Continue” and your Yahoo! account is now created, so you can take advantage of different services like Yahoo! Finance, YMail and innovative newsletters regarding sports, technology and others.
Changing the password of an already created Yahoo! account
If maybe you already have a Yahoo! account and you want to follow the useful advices previously showed related to the password security, you can also change it by logging in as you normally would.
Then, being logged in and on the home page of any Yahoo! service, you just have to click on the icon with your name that is located at the top right of the screen, next to the service menu button with the dots. When you click on such button with your name, you will be able to add accounts, sign out and manage your account info, being the blue option you are going to click now.
In this way, a new page will be opened showing you your Personal Info tab, with a left configuration panel with other three more tabs: “Account Security”, “Recent Activity” and “Preferences”, so from this page you can control everything related with your Yahoo account. Regarding the matter we are approaching, we will be clicking on the “Account Security” button.
In order to access the Account Security settings, the Yahoo! ´s platform is going to ask you for your account and password again, as a security measure to avoid intruders or any undesirable change in this matter.
After reentering your credentials you will have access to this account security tab offering different options in terms of data safety, like changing the password and the two-step verification process as a different procedure.
Within this page, we will click on the “Change password” button and Yahoo´s system will shows us a small window to enter the new password and to confirm it. In this case, remember to follow the previous advices regarding password security, about using characters like capital letters, symbols and numbers to make a strong and long passcode. Then, click on continue and you are good to go.
Remember, by changing your password you must reenter such new credential on every device you have logged in with your Yahoo! account.
With Yahoo! Mail´s renovation there are plenty of new features you can enjoy on the platform, being implemented by the company to try recovering its market share in terms of satisfied users, which unfortunately lost in the last years after being a brand of quality related to online services, due to the lack of innovation, security issues and overall staying behind the competition.

When you click on the “Notepad” button, a new tab or window of the browser you are using will be instantly opened, with Yahoo! ´s Notepad ready to use. First of all, there are two options from scratch from where you can start easily; the “New Note” button and the “Unfiled” predetermined folder, being the first one the option to create notes and the second to save them automatically.
To create a new note, it is just as simple as clicking on the “New Note” button; an editing screen will be opened ready to write the note´s name first on the blank space on the top of the viewing panel, which in this case will be “Things to do”.
After you write the note´s name, it is now time to enter the actual content of such note to be saved, being available for you anytime. Regarding this note, let us write a list of things to do for next week.
When you finish writing the note´s information it is time to save it, since if the page is closed or you logged out by mistake, the unsaved notes will be deleted automatically. To save the note, just click on the “Save” button at the bottom of the editing space of the message. Otherwise, if you want to cancel the process or start over again, just click on “Cancel” to do it.
As you can see, the note is now created and easy to read thanks to the notepad´s layout in the platform, with the “New Note” option and folder panel on the left, the note list on the center with “Move” and “Delete” buttons, and the viewing panel showing the content of the selected or clicked note on the note list. Like this, folders, options, notes and their content are shown at once.
In relation to modify created notes, the process is very easy to do; just click on the note you want to edit, then move the mouse to the note´s name and click on it to modify it, after that you will click on the “Save” button and the edition will be successful. In this case, we will add “Next Weekend” to the previous name.
If you want to modify the actual note´s content you can do it following the same steps; just click on the note on the centered list you want to modify, then click on the content itself in its corresponding space and you will be able to add and delete letters. Let us say, in this case we need to add another thing to the list, like “Going Shopping”. Remember, click on “Save” to finish.

So, to delete a note all you need to do is to click on such note and then click on the “Delete” button on the action panel, which is above of the centralized list.
When you click on the “Delete” button the platform will show a notification asking you if you are sure to delete the selected note; if you want to continue just click on “Delete”, if you want to cancel the procedure or maybe it started by mistake, just click on “Cancel” all notes remain the same.

To carry it out, put the mouse cursor on top of the message you are interested in deleting; a trash can icon will appear as you hold the cursor onto it, click in such icon and you will be able to delete the note. In this case, the notification asking to complete the deleting process will appear as well as on the previous step.
How to create your own folders and move notes into them
If you want, you can create your own folders with customizable names, allowing the platform to be cleaner and organized if you need to, being almost a necessary thing if there are too many notes.
When you enter Ymail Notepad for the first time, you will notice there is only one folder named “Unfiled” as the predetermined container for all the notes you create on the go. This is fine and easy, but having more folders with customizable options is a lot more useful.
In so, to create a new folder you just need to click on the bar with the written legend “New notebook”, then erase these words and type the name you want for your new notebook. In detail, the bar is placed right underneath the “Unfiled” folder.
In this case we will be creating the “Task” folder, after tying in the words just click anywhere on the screen and the notebook will be there, even ready for you to create new notes that will be saved in the new folder.
Of course, as you create notes and you are able to delete them at the same time if you want, it is the same case with notebooks. So, let us say you created a folder you do not need anymore and you want to get rid of it.
Easy, by clicking on the secondary or right button of your mouse while the cursor is on top of the folder you want to delete, a menu with two options will dropdown; a “Rename Notebook” button in the case you want to change the name, and the “Delete Button” if you want to delete it. As usual, when you start a deleting process a notification will appear asking you if you are sure.
And last but not least, we will show how to move notes from one folder to another, being extremely useful for organization. To do so, locate the note you want to move, click on it on the list and when the action panel is enable, click on the “Move” button.
By clicking on the “Move” button, a menu with all the available folders will be expanded, so you just have to click on the notebook you want the note to be moved.
Remember, the note to be replaced into the other folder is the one you have selected, so be completely sure to pick the right one.

In this case, such number is “1” because there is only one email added automatically to the Draft Folder; the one we are writing right now. Also, if you are creating a message and you click on purpose or by accident or another folder or icon, such message will be saved on the Drafts without any other action.
Deleting draft messages
You can delete unsent emails on the Draft folder like any other messages sent and received, by using the option panel when you select emails on the draft that you want to manage.

With a few simple steps you can get creating a customizable folder and move any email you want into it.
The first thing you need to do is to be signed in on YMail by typing your email account and password on https//mail.yahoo.com, providing access to your platform and inbox.
Being on the inbox, you will see a folder panel located on the left right underneath the “Compose” button” where you can access the predetermined folders as “Unread”, “Draft”, “Sent”, Starred”, “Archive” and others, which host messages according to different actions and functions.
On this designated folder panel, at the bottom of it you will find the “Folders” button and the option “Show” or “Hide” right next to, click on it so all the created and customizable folders appear, if you have not created any it will only be shown the “+ New Folder” button.
You can create your new folder by clicking on the “+ New Folder” button, immediately giving you the option to type its name, which in this case will be “Important” as a folder hosting imperative messages only. To complete the action, click on the blue icon with an arrow as the “Submit Input” and your folder is now created.
To confirm the success of the process, the platform will let you know with a notification and you will be able to see your new created folder, taking us to the next and easy step; moving emails into this specific folder.
Moving messages into your new created folder
Now that we have our Important folder created, it is time to move some messages into it for you to spot them anytime you want. To do so, we are going to inbox or any other folder from where you want to move emails, and then we are going to select them by clicking on the tick box next to every message, In fact, you can select as many messages as you want.
By doing so, the option panel on top of the inbox will be enabled and it will allow to perform some actions like “Archive”, “Move”, “Delete” and “Spam”.
Like this, the ticked messages are going to be affected by the actions available on the option panel above the inbox. In this case, you will click on the “Move” button since this is the process we want to perform to store important emails.
By clicking on the “Move” button a dropdown menu will be expanded with many options to choose from, being the folders available for you to move the ticked messages, such as “”Archive”, “Spam” and “Deleted Items”. Also, folders you have created should be on this dropdown menu, which is this case would be “Important”
Spotting the Important folder, you are going to click on it and all the selected emails from the inbox will be moved to this created folder, allowing you to know when the process is successful by a notification showed, displaying information regarding the number of conversations moved and destination folder. If you want to reverse the moving process, just click on the “Undo” button.
As you can see, the selected emails are not on the inbox anymore and they were moved to the “Important” folder, so these messages contain imperative information and are now stored securely from the possible chaos on the inbox when there are too many messages.
Other ways to move important emails to a folder
If you do not want to create a new folder, but you still need to move important emails from your inbox to the predetermined containers on the Yahoo! Email´s platform, you can also do that by following some even easier procedures; using the Archive and Starred folders available.
In so, the Archive folder can be described as a file container where you can put emails that you do not want to miss, which could be the case if you let them on the inbox. So, to move messages from one folder to this Archive container is almost the same process explained earlier.
Just select the emails to move by ticking the empty box next to them, by doing this the option panel will be enable and this time you will click on the “Archive” button. Automatically, the ticked emails will be move to this folder.
If you want, you can select all the messages included on the email section to move them all with just one click, by using the tick box next to the option panel and click on it.
On the other hand, Yahoo Mail offers you the Starred folder to save important emails or messages of any kind, being the ones that you need to stand out by any means. In this case, starred emails do not disappear from the inbox but they will be recognizable easily, and also you will be able to see them by clicking on the Starred folder.
Starring emails on Mail Yahoo is even easier in comparison to the previous procedures, to do it just put the mouse cursor on the email of interest, three options to choose from will appear; a magnifying glass icon to search messages from the sender, a star icon and a trash can to delete such message. Easy, you just have to click on the star icon and the email gets starred right away.
In this way, the email will now appear with a golden star on it so it can be recognizable, however, it still remain on the inbox or previous folder used. Of course, if you want to see all the starred emails in one folder you can do it also, by just clicking on the “Starred” folder.
So, starred messages are on the inbox and on the Starred folder at the same time, if you need them to be stored in a secure way but also on your work screen, in the case you require accessing and consulting any information inside such important messages.
Using this methods, you will be able to move important emails to one created folder or you can used the predetermined ones on Yahoo! Mail, so these important messages should be always on an easy spot to find, use and consult any imperative intel that makes them so important.
